WHAT IS IT?

European common history for a better future is a 19-month Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) project, approved under the European Remembrance call, involving organisations from five countries: France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Spain.The main aim of this project is to improve the European population’s knowledge and understanding of Europe’s common history and how it has impacted on the lives of European citizens.

The main objectives of the project are:
‑To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration as a relevant historical moment for the process of European integration;
‑To develop participatory and intergenerational activities in which citizens can share and build together their knowledge about the European Union;
‑To foster citizens’ sense of belonging to the European Union by analysing the experiences and impact of the European integration process on their lives;
‑To create a network of organisations from five European countries committed to improving people’s knowledge, understanding and sense of belonging to the European Union.

Duration of the project: 01/03/2025 – 30/09/2026 [19 months]

The main activities are:
‑Coordination meeting in France;
‑Collection of testimonies from people born during the decade of the Schuman Declaration and the production of videos to be uploaded to the project’s YouTube channel;
‑Organisation of a photo exhibition celebrating the common European history over the past 75 years;
‑Organisation of roundtables to reflect on the process of European integration;
‑Coordination meeting in Hungary;
‑Creation of a participatory mural highlighting key events and moments in the European integration process;
‑Cultural mediation activities involving local population.
